Welcome
Perhaps you are carrying the weight of past traumatic events, feeling anxious or low, finding it difficult to make decisions or struggling with relationships and identity questions. Whatever has led you here, this is the right space to bring it into.
Life is a journey during which we may find ourselves struggling, confused and overwhelmed by difficulties. Counselling and psychotherapy, through offering appropriate support, may enable us to transform our struggles and suffering into personal growth, rather than getting stuck in a painful impasse. Talking to an impartial, skilled and supportive person may help us find the inner guidance that we need to decide which direction to follow.
I am an experienced Integrative Counsellor and Psychotherapist, an accredited member of the BACP and an EMDR Europe accredited practitioner, providing individual therapy.
My approach to therapy is inclusive, culturally attuned, intersectional and anti-oppressive.
Please feel free to contact me for further information or if you would like to schedule an initial consultation.

About Me
I am an Integrative Counsellor and Psychotherapist. The core of my model of practice is humanistic but I do draw on psychodynamic approach as well to better understand you in the context of your and your family's history.
I am also an EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) Practitioner. EMDR is a very effective and dynamic approach used to process trauma, both simple and complex.
As a person of multiple heritage, who has lived in different countries and cultures, I am interested in exploring cultural and identity issues and how difference and displacement impacts on people in their lives.
I aim to offer therapy which is inclusive, culturally attuned and anti-oppressive.
Therapy as a Creative Process
My primary education is in visual arts and I see therapy itself as a creative process. It involves two (or more) people in the act of co-creation of what is a better life for a client. This may mean deeper awareness of their inner and outer world and improved ability to live a more fulfilled life.
I work in two languages: English and Polish.

About Therapy
Counselling and psychotherapy provide a safe space to get in touch with our feelings and thoughts and reflect on them.
There are different modalities of therapy but the safe and respectful relationship with a therapist, in which we can be heard and understood, is the foundation on which the change can be built. It is the support and being able to talk about what is important for us that the therapeutic process is catalysed by. This may allow us to process unresolved feelings, achieve higher awareness of ourselves and arrive at the place from where we are able to make desired changes in our behaviour and start creating our lives in a free and conscious way.
In therapy it is vital to acknowledge all aspects of our experience: traumatic events, family dynamics, childhood memories as well as cultural, political, historical and social factors.
About EMDR Therapy
EMDR, which stands for Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing, is a powerful approach used to process trauma.
When trauma happens, our brains are not able to process the information effectively. This causes traumatic memories to be stored in our brains in isolation, in a fragmented form. As a result the old traumatic memory keeps getting triggered and causes us to re-experience original disturbing emotions. Trauma also may make us believe that we are defective, not loveable, unsafe or always at fault.
During EMDR Therapy we are made to think about a traumatic scenario while our body is subjected to certain types of stimulation, e.g. eye movement. This prompts a spontaneous processing of traumatic material. As a result, the memory stops feeling distressing and it loses its destructive grip. Another effect is transformation of negative self-beliefs into more healthy, objective and empowering ones.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a referral from my GP?
No, you can contact me directly. If you are paying through health insurance, check with your insurer first, as some ask for a GP referral before they authorise sessions.
Can I use my health insurance?
Yes. I am registered with AXA, Aviva, Vitality and WPA. Please contact your insurer before we start to confirm your cover and get an authorisation.
How many sessions will I need?
It depends on what you bring and what you would like to change. Some people come for a few sessions, others for longer-term work. We will review how things are going together, and you are free to stop at any time.
Is EMDR right for me?
EMDR is used to process trauma, both single events and longer-term or complex experiences. You can read more in the About Therapy section, and we can talk about whether it suits you during the free consultation.
What if online therapy feels strange?
It is common to feel unsure at first. Many people find it easier to open up from their own familiar space. We can talk through any concerns during the free consultation before you decide.
Is what I share confidential?
Yes. I work within the BACP Ethical Framework. There are a few legal limits to confidentiality, for example if someone is at serious risk of harm, and I will explain these at the start of our work.

Get in Touch
The first session lasts 50 min as do all subsequent sessions. The space of this session is for us to meet and get to know one another, where I would ask you some initial questions about your situation and answer any questions that you may have about the way I work. Based on this information I would decide if I can be of help to you or should make a more appropriate recommendation and you could decide if you want to continue working with me. There is no obligation to continue.
If you decide to contact me via email, please refrain from describing the details of your situation/issues there. This stage is meant for us to agree on when we can meet/have a conversation, during which you will be able to talk to me about yourself.
